I intend to discuss how I use social media in my everyday life in my blog post today.

What is "social media"?

      Social media is an online platform for sharing content, connecting with others, and engaging in communication and interaction.

There are 4.74 billion social media users around the world. 

With 2.934 billion monthly users, Facebook has the largest number of social media users. 

Also, the number of social media users is expected to rise to 5.85 billion in the year 2027.

Evidently, we are strongly connected to social media. And Millennials and Gen Z are the most frequent users of social media.

What makes social media literacy unique?

     Social media literacy is crucial for learners to navigate safely and effectively on social networking sites. Teachers should teach literacy skills for concise expression on platforms like Twitter, which has reshaped communication and implications for all involved.

Instagram's writing varies significantly from simple captions to attention-grabbing short sentences, acronyms, and inferences, making it a competitive platform for learners to retain their attention.

Social media literacy skills are crucial for critical thinking and self-motivation, but a strong foundation is needed to maximize learning without sacrificing other aspects.
